Liberty Scholarship Fund receives check for $500 from the Freedom Book Club

Freedom Book Club's annual literary award has been presented at the 2010 New Hampshire Liberty Forum. This year participants rated Étienne de La Boétie's The Politics of Obedience: the Discourse of Voluntary Servitude as the Book of the Year. Originally writtent during Boétie's time at the University of Orléans, from which he graduated in 1553, this book has been very influential, not only in the Huguenot uprisings in France in the 16th and 17th centuries, but was influential on enlightenment thinkers, and 20th century anarchist thinkers such as Voltairine de Cleyre.
Our thank you to the author is to purchase their book, as well as a giving them a keepsake. We honor the winning author by making a monetary donation to the Liberty Scholarship Fund. This year, due to your subscriptions, purchases through our amazon affiliate links, and benevolent gifts, we were able to present a check in the amount of $500 to the Liberty Scholarship fund in honor of Étienne de La Boétie!
